The first Digital China Summit will be held in Southeast China’s Fujian province on April 22-24 to showcase the latest achievements in China’s e-governance and digital economy since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

“The theme of the summit is to power modernization with IT applications, and boost the building of a Digital China, with the aim of providing a platform for releasing China’s policies on IT applications, and presenting our achievements in e-government and the digital economy,” said Zhuang Rongwen, deputy director of the State Internet Information Office.

To develop the country’s digital economy, the National Development and Reform Commission, China’s top planner, and other agencies have been working on various areas, such as the implementation of a broadband strategy, infrastructure, and Big Data.

Li Pumin, secretary-general of the National Development and Reform Commission, addressed the government’s next move on the digital economy.

“We will vigorously promote the development of integration and the Internet Plus initiative in the areas of collaborative manufacturing, agriculture, medical care, pensions, education, and others. Besides, the construction of new smart cities will be accelerated, plus the digital transformation of industries,” Li said.

There are 500 names on the tentative list of guests so far. They will be offered smart services such as facial recognition, speech recognition, cashless payments, contactless security checks, and driverless vehicles covering application, pick-up, registration, and checking in and out.
