The State Council decided to reshuffle the leadership of the Leading Group for Western Region Development for the purpose of better administrative performance, according to a circular released on Aug 1.

Premier Li Keqiang will sit at the helm of the leading group, assisted by Vice-Premier Han Zheng acting as the deputy head.

Other members of the leadership include senior officials from wide-ranging ministries, commissions and agencies, highlighting the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Ministry of Education.

The National Development and Reform Commission will undertake the specific routine work of the leading group.
