This year marks the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Long March — a military maneuver by the Communist Party of China. And around 160 foreign diplomats have visited an exhibition to mark the event.

Held at China’s Military Museum in Beijing, the exhibition displays over 250 relics of weapons and supplies used during the march. From 1934 to 1936, some 10,000 Communist forces marched across China to evade the pursuit of millions of troops from the Kuomintang.

It was one of the longest retreats in war history, which covered almost 12,500 kilometers. Soldiers had to pass through some of the country’s most difficult terrain, such as snow-covered mountains and marshlands.
